Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 17, 2026

This policy explains how Jonny Goodday handles information when you read stories, use forms and polls, subscribe to updates, or use the Field Goods shop at jonnygoodday.com. Store sections apply when you use the cart or checkout and when direct ordering is available.

Who we are

Jonny Goodday is an independent Texas storyteller, photographer, filmmaker, and maker. Jonny Goodday operates this website and its Field Goods shop. For privacy questions or requests, email john@jonnygoodday.com.

Information we collect

  • Messages, comments, and subscriptions: your name, email address, message or comment, newsletter preferences, and other information you choose to submit.
  • Shopping and orders: cart contents, products and quantities, bundle selections, billing and delivery addresses, name, email, any phone number you provide, order notes, prices, discounts, shipping costs, payment status, transaction references, and order or delivery correspondence.
  • Technical and security information: IP address, browser and device details, referring page, timestamps, session identifiers, usage events, and signals used to detect spam, bots, and payment fraud.
  • Existing accounts: account contact details and associated orders, if you use an account. Checkout currently permits guest purchases without creating a new customer account.

Please provide only information needed for your message or order. Do not put card numbers, passwords, government identification numbers, or other sensitive information in comments, order notes, or contact messages.

How we use information

We use information to operate the site, maintain your cart, apply matching-bundle discounts, calculate shipping, process payments and fulfill orders, send order and delivery updates, respond to questions, moderate comments and polls, send article and shop updates you requested, measure site use, and protect against abuse, fraud, and security incidents. We also keep records for accounting, disputes, and applicable legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.

Direct checkout and payments

Direct shop orders are recorded on this website using WooCommerce. Payments are processed through PayPal Payments, including supported credit or debit card and wallet options shown at checkout. PayPal and the selected payment provider receive information needed to authorize and process payment, assess risk, and handle disputes. This can include contact and billing information, order details, transaction amounts, and device information.

Card details entered in PayPal-hosted payment fields are processed by the payment provider. We do not store your full card number or card security code in the website’s order records. We receive payment confirmations, transaction references, and limited payment details needed to manage your order. Payment providers also handle information under their own policies, see the PayPal Privacy Statement.

Shipping quotes and delivery

The shop uses USPS live rates to quote customer-paid, insured shipping. Destination information such as your ZIP Code, together with package dimensions, weight, and shipment value, may be sent to USPS to calculate a quote. When an order is shipped, recipient and delivery details are provided to USPS and shipping services used to prepare labels, tracking, delivery, or insurance claims. WooCommerce Shipping connects the shop to Automattic and its shipping-service providers for these functions. See the USPS Privacy Policy.

For purchase conditions, production times, and order problems, see our Refund and Returns Policy and the relevant product page.

Fraud prevention and reCAPTCHA

This site uses Google reCAPTCHA on protected checkout interactions to help distinguish people from bots and prevent abuse and payment fraud. It can process technical information such as IP address, browser and device details, interaction signals, and a risk result. It uses a security cookie when it runs. Google processes reCAPTCHA customer data on our behalf for this protection. See Google’s reCAPTCHA data-processing information.

PayPal and card issuers may also run fraud checks or request additional authentication, such as 3-D Secure, where required. Blocking security scripts or cookies may prevent checkout from working.

Cookies, browser storage, and analytics

WordPress, WooCommerce, and site services use cookies or browser storage for functions such as login, cart contents and counts, checkout sessions, form preferences, and security. WooCommerce uses cart cookies such as woocommerce_cart_hash and woocommerce_items_in_cart, and a session identifier beginning wp_woocommerce_session_ that connects your browser to cart information stored on the site. Payment and fraud-prevention services may use their own cookies and session identifiers.

The site may also use Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to measure visits, pages viewed, and device or usage information. Analytics is separate from the cookies needed to maintain a cart or process checkout. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, blocking necessary cookies can interrupt shopping, payments, login, or forms. Learn about Google’s practices in its Privacy Policy and its Analytics opt-out tool.

Email updates

You can choose article updates, shop updates, or both. Article updates cover new stories, photographs, and films. Shop updates cover opening news, new products, collections, and restocks. We store your email address, topic choices, and signup/update time in our WordPress database, article subscribers also use Hustle. Update emails include a signed preferences link where you can change either choice or unsubscribe from both. Order and account emails are separate, and an order does not automatically subscribe you to marketing.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails through the unsubscribe link or by emailing john@jonnygoodday.com. We may retain a suppression record to honor your unsubscribe choice.

Comments, polls, and forms

Comments and form submissions may include the information you enter along with IP address and browser details used for spam prevention and security. Comments you submit for publication may be visible to other visitors after moderation. Poll results may be displayed in aggregate, and technical information may be used to prevent repeated or abusive voting. Visitor comments may be checked by an automated spam-detection service.

Service providers, links, and embedded content

Authorized people who operate the shop or respond to customers can access information needed for that work. Hosting, backup, security, email, payment, analytics, and delivery providers may process information needed to support the site and its services. Information may also be disclosed when necessary to comply with law, protect rights and security, or address fraud or disputes.

Articles and other pages may embed or link to YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Google, PayPal, Buy Me a Coffee, and other services. Embedded content can collect information and set cookies as if you visited that provider directly.

How long we retain information

We retain information for the purposes described above, including fulfillment, customer support, accounting, security, and resolving disputes. The store currently has no automatic time-based deletion period configured for order or account records, so those records remain until reviewed and removed manually. You may request deletion, subject to information we must keep for legal, accounting, security, or dispute-related reasons.

Comments and moderation records may remain while the site is operating. Newsletter records remain while subscribed, with suppression records retained after an unsubscribe where needed. Cart sessions and cookies have their own expiry periods. Analytics and other providers follow their configured retention settings and applicable policies. Copies in backups may remain until the relevant backups are replaced or expire.

Your choices and privacy requests

Depending on where you live and the laws that apply, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of your personal information, and to object to or limit certain processing. Email john@jonnygoodday.com with your request. We may need to verify your identity before acting, please do not send identification documents unless we explain what is needed and how to provide it securely.

We may retain information required for legal, accounting, security, dispute, or unsubscribe-suppression purposes. Requests about information held independently by PayPal, USPS, or another provider may also need to be made directly to that provider. Providers may process information in the United States or other countries where they operate.

Security and children

We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the site, shop, or its services change. The date at the top identifies the latest update. Questions or privacy requests: john@jonnygoodday.com.
